Good
Day Post #57 Member!
Here’s
hoping you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year’s.
Enclosed
is a copy of the minutes from the December 16th Post meeting to let
you know what your Post has been up to.
There are also miscellaneous tidbits of information that you might find
useful. Our next meeting is on January
20 and we hope you will try to attend. If you are able to attend, please bring the
enclosed copy of the last meeting’s minutes with you. We are also hoping that the Auxiliary will be
able to start have their meetings on the same night as ours starting in
February. We are supposed to be picking
up the donated dividing doors from
If you missed the New Year’s Eve party, you missed a good time. We had three raffle drawings. Ronald Cowper won the raffle for the guns. Georgia Herhold won the sweater being raffled by the Ladies Auxiliary and knitted by Lucia Kreutzer and donated by Peggy Gasdorf. We even raffled off the old Apple computer from Barry’s office and his son Michael won it!! Boy, was Barry glad about that! We also gave out eight door prizes. Thanks go out to Maxine Bowling for the decorations and to the Ladies Auxiliary for the food. We also want to thank Dick Bowling for the generous donation of the weapons for the raffle. We sold 444 tickets, raising $2220 for the building fund.
If
you are a Korean War veteran and served in country between April 1968 and July
1969, we have an article in regards to service at the DMZ and Agent
Orange. Please stop by the Post for more
information.
Now, a question. How many of you would be
interested in a membership appreciation social?
We could recognize birthdays, anniversaries and any other special events
happening in member’s lives. The idea is
to have a quarterly get-together with a no-host bar with snacks and a cake,
possibly play cards or other games such as dominoes or board games but
generally, just to get together with other post members with no specific agenda
such as meeting or a fund-raiser; only to celebrate the special events in our
post members’ (which includes the Auxiliary) lives. There would be no “entrance fee” and you
could bring guests. Please contact Barry
at the Post during business hours (Mon-Tues-Wed,
at
637-2254 or call me at home at 637-2240 or email me at rockin_g@netzero.com and let us know if
you would be interested and would attend.
Of course, for those of you who live out of state, we don’t expect you
to be regular attendees but know that if we have these socials, you are always
welcome. If you are interested, when you
contact us please give us the following information: birthday and anniversary
(if applicable). We don’t need the year
for your birthday (some of us are touchy about our ages) but for your
anniversary, it would be nice to know how many years you are celebrating.
If
you have any other ideas for activities for the Post, please let us know! Share your ideas with us at the next Post
meeting on December 20th.
Remember, this is your post and your inputs do matter.
Enclosed
also are five Pancake Breakfast tickets for February 14. Please purchase what you need for yourself
(we hope you will attend) and what you don’t buy, please try to sell. Prices are on the tickets and please circle
on the ticket whether it is for a child or an adult. If you need more tickets, just let us know. If you live out of the area, tickets are not
enclosed.
In
order to save on postage, I would like to be able to email this newsletter
along with the meeting minutes to as many Post members as possible. If you have an email address, please email me
at rockin_g@netzero.com and I will
add your email to the list. Make sure
you let me know who you are when you send me the email so I know whom the email
address belongs to. I will be sending
the newsletter as a word document attachment so please let me know what version
of Word you have or if you don’t have Word on your computer. I will make the necessary adjustments.
If
you have an article or piece of information that you think would be of interest
to the whole Post, let me know and I will include it in the first newsletter
after receiving the information. You can
get me the information by emailing me, dropping it off at the Post or mailing
it to the Post at
On
a sad note, we recently lost one of our Post members. Paul Howe passed away Christmas week. He recently took over as our Service
Officer. Our prayers are with Jackie,
his wife, and he will be missed and remembered fondly.
